Come and paint with us! In this 4-day class, unschoolers will learn how to draw & paint a little gorilla! We will discuss the art supplies needed for this project. We will review composition and placement of shapes and lines on our sheet of paper. With an oil pastel, we will combine shapes and lines to create a litle gorilla. Once our drawings are complete, we will begin painting our designs. We will discuss the application of watercolor paints, how to change the value of a paint color, and how to create the look of texture. The Reel Deal is an immersive, 10-week hands-on production course designed for middle school unschoolers ready to step behind the lens. We will transform from passive viewers into active visual storytellers, learning that filmmaking is a blend of technical precision and creative soul. From the first "Action!" to the final cut, we will navigate the entire production pipeline: screenwriting, storyboarding, location scouting, cinematography, sound design, and digital editing. By the end of the term, each unschooler will have produced a short film and developed a roadmap for sharing his or her work with the world. In The Reel Deal, we move beyond just "pressing record." This class is designed to mirror a professional film production cycle, teaching unschoolers how to bridge the gap between a creative idea and a polished final product. This class includes multiple in-person field trips to help students gain more in-depth knowledge about the filmmaking process and industry.
