Calling all Chicago-area homeschooling and unschooling families! Join Friends of Cabrini for a hands-on exploration of the cosmos at the Adler Planetarium, 1300 S. DuSable Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL 60605. This field trip is designed for students in grades K–8 to step into the roles of scientists, engineers, and explorers. We will gather to marvel at the history of space travel, investigate the mysteries of our solar system, and see the universe through the eyes of trailblazing astronomers. Adapted by Evanston playwright, Gloria Bond Clunie, the Hula Hoopin' Queen is a sweet, funny, and energetic story that follows three Harlem girls as they vie for the crown of Hula-Hoopin’ Queen! Championed by Oprah Winfrey, this Chicago Public Library’s “Best of the Best” award-winner is a joyful reminder of the essentials that bind our communities. This performance will be held on multiple dates including, Saturday, May 10, 2026 at 1:30P CST; Tuesday, May 19, 2026 and Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 10:30A CST.
Hey Friends! Join Friends of Cabrini for the 4th Annual Downtown Day on July 2026. The day will be filled with several activities and trips to local downtown businesses in Chicago. Hosted by My Block My Hood My City, Downtown Day 2026 will be held July 11, 2026 from 10:00A-3:00P CST. Friends of Cabrini is a partner of My Block My Hood My City for this initiative. Downtown Day aims to bring 1,000 youth—primarily from Chicago’s South and West sides—into the heart of our cultural and business corridors for a day of exploration, belonging, and new opportunities! Downtown Day is about rewriting the narrative. Every Chicagoan deserves exposure and access to what’s possible.
